Church Avenue repair artisans

by Jon on May 12, 2009

The implied fourth “R” of the triplet Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is Repair.

That which can be repaired can be be reused; if it’s broken, all that’s left is recycle – something we haven’t quite mastered yet.

Two establishments on Church Avenue have repaired things for me in recent weeks, all ahead of schedule, at low prices, in each case keeping stuff out of the landfill.

Bella at Lechaim Jewelry (322 Church Avenue, between East 2nd and East 3d, 718-851-3515), repairs and sells jewelry – and watches – and, we think, probably knows something about other electronic devices). Prices on items for sale seem  very competitive, but we claim no particular knowledge of the jewelry market.

Michael and George at MIG Electronics (1117-A Church Avenue between Stratford and Westminster, 718-284-5196) repair computers, televisions, monitors, power cables – but not MIGS or other jets. We think they could, but they don’t have the space.

Neither have web presence – so you’ll have to bring your disabled widgets in to see what they think. Good for the environment, the neighborhood, and for the household budget – before you toss it – see if it can be repaired.
